a journey through my design process

This portfolio is a glimpse into my creative process as a designer. It features a range of concepts at different stages—from early sketches and rough typography tests to fully realized covers. It also includes interior typesetting samples and a complete jacket design, offering a full picture of the book production process. You will also find my MS Book Publishing thesis at the end of the page, as it also highlights my creativity and design execution. Each piece tells a story of the book it represents and the design journey behind it. You'll see how ideas evolve, how I play with layout, color, and mood, and how each cover finds its voice along the way. Click the images of the interiors and research paper at the bottom of this page to view or download the full spread.

Upcoming Ooligan Press Spring 2026 Title

Echoes of the Lost by Cindy Brown

A moody, monochromatic palette evokes the foggy atmosphere of Portland, Oregon, setting the tone for this mystery novel. Featuring a photograph of the Hawthorne Bridge, the cover hints at hidden depths beneath the surface. Bold typography anchors the composition while subtle movement in the lettering alludes to the tension and mystery that unravels at the heart of the story.

At Ooligan Press, we have a democratic process for voting. If you scroll down, you’ll see other concepts I created for the same title, all at different stages of the design process—some of them rough drafts, and some more polished.
